@candywrapp Carl Zeiss just recently made lens for the Canon D-SLR camera’s
actually it is a great recorder change the video too 720 pixels youll see
@candywrapp Five times the price for a marginal bump in quality isn’t worth it at all for me. Most clients still want a final SD product, anyway.
@CubeGuy If your willing to spend a high premium the Canon 5d Mark II is great with its full image sensor that is really noticeable.
1080p looks bettter with 24fps
@candywrapp At this point, the Canon T2i is my number one pick. 720p at 60fps and 1080p at 30.
@CubeGuy The panasonic GH1 is a real nice camera.
Plus you could get some slr cine lenses like carl zeiss
I understand, however, people need to know that they should not base their reviews on the video quality it produces but rather the image quality of the photos. People should appreciate what canon has done for them by integrating 1080p video on their latest DSLRs instead of complaining that it only does 20fps @ 1080p. You can’t find other DSLRs out there that has the same capability, better yet 1080p recording, not till T2i anyway.
@encorporadow it is a Digital camera but it’s doing better video than most camcorder on the market at the same price. If you can manually focus a camera you’ll get much better picture quality
Bare in mind that this is a Digital Camera… not a Camcorder.
You are paying for the Camera function and the video recording capability is a bonus.
How do you get Final Cut Pro to the settings for Canon’s 1920 x 1080 20P codec?
@b0nes2
I’d say no. You can get a 120GB Sony Handycam HD with a manual focus dial for $400-ish more (as long as you aren’t in it for the crazy amount of lens options).
@CubeGuy I soot film as my major as well. Currently deciding if the 7D is worth the additional $800 or so for the 30fps 1080p.
Me. As a digital film major, the 720p mode on the T1i is just remarkable for the price. Perfect for 99% of my needs.
Anyone who finds that the quality to price ratio is better than for other options in its video ability. I found the Panasonic GH1 was able to produce video just as good as the Red one but for a much much lower price.
i did …just for vid ..
buy it, i know i love it
me =P
I’m a television commercial producer, I bought a DSLR just for video. Panasonic’s GH1.
@NSrailfan1 You can take pictures while recording video. Particularly with the T1i. It allows you take pics while continuously recording video.
guys guys!
should I buy this DSLR? I have a Sony Camcorder DCR-SR40, and the video quality is really shite. I like taking pictures too but I want something good. Could the T1i be my Cam?
I have to agree with a1mint; before long, camcorders will be dead. I do freelance work for a high-end videography business (clients including Fujifilm), and we use a Sony EX1 HD camera, and the boss bought a Canon 5D MKII a couple of weeks ago to add more perspective with 2 cameras filming at the same time. Also, theres so many more options you have with interchangeable lenses. The HD is more than comparable and the cameras’ a lot cheaper than buying a new Sony EX1. Results are AWESOME!
Why not? You get both, and because standards for photo is much higher than for video, why not benefit from that for video?
but whos gnna buy a DSLR just for video!
Oops, that’d be the 5D mark II.
You’re a little behind, because it already does.
Check out the 4D Mark ii…
