Canon Rebel T1i (500D) demo
This is a quick (well, 5 minute) video of the new Canon Rebel T1i (Europe: 500D) as it is being pulled out of the box, as shot with another T1i that we bought at the same time. Most importantly we’ll be using USM or L glass lenses from now on as the auto-focus on the kit lens is very, very loud. Otherwise, this camera is brilliant! Full HD video capability at resolutions up to 1920×1080. This 5 minute video created a Quicktime file that was just about 1 gig in size directly from camera. The “squish” you see in this video is not from the camera but rather my conversion of the file when I converted it to .avi to work in Windows Movie Maker.

@arlikid It is indeed, although you may find it a bit of overkill if you don’t need video.
is this a good camera if you are a beginner? im planning to get a dslr
i’d kill for one of thee cameras, im stuck with a xs
@davidsldennis All UV filters are pretty much the same. You can probably get a Quantary UV filter at your local Ritz/Wolf camera for under $30 bucks. For that lens you’ll need a 58mm diameter filter. Cheers!
Thank you, I feel so stupid, I had a PowerShot SX20is that I had to pull up the flash when ever I needed it. So I thought this camera worked the same way. Well I turned the T1i on (LOL) and made the room dark and pressed the shutter button and wolla, it popped up. Thanks for the help. Also my sister has a T1i and she said that I need to get a UV filter. My camera came with the EF-S 18-55 IS lens, so what UV filter would you recommend? Thanks, Dave
@davidsldennis Hey Dave, it should pop up automatically. Put the camera on auto (the green square), walk it to a dark room and try to take a photo. If the flash doesn’t pop up you will need to return it. There should also be a tiny release button for it on the side of the camera (with a little lightning bolt on it) for other camera modes.
I just bought a new Canon EOS Rebel T1i and I can’t figure out how to raise the flash, can you help me? Thanks, Dave
great video, i recently bought the same camera! Its amazing!
I was just wondering though, how did you convert the file to avi? I would really love a reply ASAP
thanks

Use real video editing software & upload in real HD.
you can focus when your on video.
It is much better than the d5000. Its comparable with even the D90. I would say the T1i is better than the D90 because it has a better sensor as well as its video quality is higher
this cam only shoots at 20fps in 1080p, 30fps ins 720p, which kinda makes me lose the credibility of this video.
even though i already got the t1i
@PilotUTA 800 dollars
you can buy a new body only for 600, probably less.
Just got a t1i for $529 refurbished. I already have lenses though so it was body only.
they go for about 700-1000 plus. Depending on the kit.
How much did you purchase it for???
Nice unboxing
cool review !! im getting one now
Is this camera better than the nikon d5000, or any camera with hd and under $800?
Yay! I review I can understand! Thanks so much. Beginner….I know nothing about special cameras…haha :]]]
@LifeWithAnAngel idk why this was thumbed down, its 100% true
i just have the camera… do i need the software to upload the photos??? i cant figure it out… i allso need a charger…
Unfortunately it shoots it’s full 1920×1080 video at only 20fps not at 30fps.
