im 13 and i got mine today, the reason y this video doesnt look outstanding is because he isnt using a tripod, but it actually is resally amazing, go out and buy it
Honestly The pentax k-x video quality seems better then this.

@irichie79 very true, but buying a whole video camera as well is so expensive!!! lool i think i’ll go for the 500D, altogether it seems like the best option overall
@MariluLane Just keep in mind, the 500D is still a SLR, mainly for the pictures, the movie mode is just an extra
But you should either check out the 500D or 550D, you won’t regret it

yeah this AF issue is a real question because i dont see any alternative camera for me and canon is so great but – why have this stupid noise??!?!?!!! lol

@MariluLane Oh btw i will be in Paris next week, i will film a lot and edit it afterwards. Will post the results when I’m done
@MariluLane i find it irritating to hear the AF when i watch the videos again, it’s ok if you edit it with a music in the background though lol.
I am using the 17-85mm USM lens, it’s working great even when I MF. Although the lens is a bit heavier then the kit lens, you will need to get used to it and just practice filming with it, specially when zooming and MF at the same time. A tripod would be ofc the best thing for filming although I don’t see myself carrying one all the time.
@burtontool might have to use a different camera.. think its the same with all 500Ds, and its so expensive as well!!!
@irichie79 bit rubbish isn’t it about hearing the AF during the videos… although i’m still contemplating getting one of these.. was only going to use 18-55mm standard lens supplied…
do you know if quality is better if a tripod is used? i have seen test videos of very different qualities with this same 500D…
I was figuring out how come his AF doesn’t make any sound when he uses it, but it seems he is using MF with a USM lens. I just tested it with my 500D and it seems to work great then
When using the AF then you can hear the noise in the background, specially in quite places

how do u make the vlurry effect in the background when taking a close up shot?
Rolling shutter is still no good on these cameras. Jello effect.
Also, when using manual focus I have the same problem. Turning the lens to focus creates an annoying scratching sound.
Lens used is the standard EFX 18-55mm that comes with the t1i. What I would really like to know is how the focus works without the annoying noises. I have the same camera and lens but when I use the autofocus button, I get very loud sounds coming from the camera. But in this video, the camera seems to autofocus perfectly fine with no noice whatsoever. Anyone have an idea?

The Japanese name for this camera model is the Kiss X3 (instead of 500D or Rebel T1i)
