Are you sure the camera has a port?… it may not. Most cameras now only use a hot shoe. Best to buy a flash specific to your camera because of the positions of the connections in the shoe. This is how these devices “talk” to each other. If the flash you buy has only a single connector it’ll probably flash but the camera can’t control it.
What you need is a Hot Shoe to PC Adapter. The link below should be of assistance.
