What is a good external flash for canon t1i?

Question by ♥ Her ♥: What is a good external flash for canon t1i?
I just bought my first DSLR- a canon t1i. I like it so far, but I hate flashes on canons, they are a bright white that washes out whatever I am shooting. I try to refrain from flash usage if I can help it but there are certain times that it is just needed, especially with how dimly lit my house is. Are there any better external flashes that i can use that wouldnt give such a white out effect?

Best thing you can do is to buy an external flash that you can swivel the head of. This will allow you to bounce the light off of another surface and illuminating the subject. Your subjects usually get washed out from direct flash, which can be helped with diffusers. There are lots of flashes out there that will do this. For the T1i you need to look for a flash that uses TTL to meter the flash. This will ensure your camera, flash and lens all “talk” to each other to give you great results.
I recommend the Canon 430 EXII. However there are several offbrand flashes that will do just as well.
However the 430 EXII can be controlled in the menus of the T1i making it much easier to adjust the custom functions of the flash. You won’t even have to touch the controls on the flash (most of the time)

Question by Annoyomus209: What is the best backpack store for a Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera with 18-55mm lens?
I’m looking for an affordable backpack for my Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera. The most I’m willing to spend is probably around . Any type of backpack will do, but I am more interested in a slingshot backpack.

Camera backpacks available from B&H from -:

There isn’t a slingshot or any type of sling backpack in that budget. I would look at the Tamrac 5371 but there is also a Canon brand backpack if you prefer.

The cheapest slingshot is :

Cheap Canon EOS Rebel T1i Reviews

www.amazon.com Where i see the most cheap New Canon EOS Rebel ͉i. I believe this camera to be my best purchase in years. :)

Do you want to buy the Canon T1i? Wondering what it will cost? I bought a refurbished Canon EOS Rebel T1i DSLR on eBay for about 5. It came with 5 extras (cleaning kit, carrying case, mini tripod, 8gb SD card, and SD reader). If you are looking to buy this camera make sure you check out eBay for a good deal. On other websites, the camera and lens ALONE was about the price i paid for everything here. On eBay, you can find the starter kit i got and make the purchase worth every penny! Don’t be scared of the “refurbished” word. Look up its meaning. I love eBay- i’ve been selling/buying on eBay for about 9 years and have never had any issues! FYI: i was torn between this camera and the XSi. The only reasons i picked this Canon was because its the newer camera and i found a great deal. I’m not any kind of expert but i do feel the XSi would have been an awesome camera too (only lacking video capabilities).

This is a lesson on the four different ways to focus while in Live View while using the Canon Rebel T1i. Most users do not know that there are 3 different auto focus modes and a zoom manual focus feature. Its just one of many great lessons on my new DVD. Enjoy! www.michaelthementor.com

Question by Unknown: What website or ways to learn how to use Canon Rebel T1i?
Hello,

I have read the manual on looked up online to learn how to use my camera, however, the terminology makes it a bit confusing. I am a simple person who wants good pictures.

I just started using the Canon T1i last yesterday, however, my pictures are blurry or too soft?

Can anyone tell me what setting it is to fix that?

Thanks

There are two or three things you can do, and combining them is probably the best way.

First don’t be afraid to use your camera, provided you don’t physically abuse it you aren’t going to break it!

Buy a couple of books. There is usually a “Magic Lantern” guide to most cameras, though the quality does vary a little. There are also a number of books on general Digital Photography, you’ll find a good selection on Amazon, look to see how other users have rated them. It’s much easier to digest this info from books than from websites.

Take a beginners course in photography.

Regards the specific blurriness/softness: Make sure any anti-shake mechanism on the lens is turned on. Make sure you hold the camera firmly, and try to steady your body, knees slightly bent, feet apart and in a wide V. If you can steady yourself against a solid object (wall, tree, lamp post etc). If your images are blurred, use a faster shutter speed. If your images are soft (the Depth of Field is too shallow) then use a smaller aperture. This all assumes the ISO is set to Auto. Blur and softness are in photo terms different, in time you’ll get used to the jargon – it’s one of those cases where the jargon is necessary to explain the subtleties.
