I just bought a canon t1i kit with the 18-ȗ lens and i want to get a protective lens so that dust doesn’t touch/enter the lens. I heard that getting a multi-layer UV is good because it doesn’t distort the picture. But i’m lost when it comes to the type. What’s the difference between a 52, 58, or 72mm? How do i know if a lens will fit on my camera?

I don’t care to know how many pictures will fit on a 4gb card, I know that information. I need to know if a 32 or a 16 will actually be supported and operate functionally in the Canon T1i.
